To transfer steps to Activy, you can currently directly connect five applications:
- Google Fit
- Apple Health
- Garmin Connect
- Polar Flow
- Suunto
However, there is also something called indirect connection, which means you can connect another external application to one of the above-mentioned applications to transfer step information to Activy.
Samsung Health is a particular example of such a connection because it cannot be directly connected to Google Fit. So, join us on a one-time journey to correctly connect the app you use daily with Activy to synchronize your steps! π
Getting Started
Before we start synchronizing the apps, we need to download them.
You will need to install:
- Activy (obviously) - Google Play
- Samsung Health (you should already have this app on your phone) - Google Play
- Google Fit - Google Play
- Health Connect - Google Play
How to Connect Samsung Band to Samsung Health?
The first step is to log in or create a Samsung account. This is necessary to fully use the Samsung Health app. The account creation process is quick and painless - you can use your Google account.
Once you create an account and log in to the Samsung Health app, you should see the following main screen:
A lot depends on the model of the band you have - Samsung's instructions should be clear. Just follow the steps displayed on the band or the phone.
In most cases (like with Galaxy Fit3), there will be no need to connect the band directly to Samsung Health - the band connects to the phone via the Galaxy Wearable app, which automatically connects the band to the Samsung Health app.
If direct connection of the band to Samsung Health is needed:
- Open the Samsung Health app, click the three dots visible in the top right corner, then βSettingsβ
- Select βAccessoriesβ and find your band model
- After the app finds your device, connect the device to Samsung Health
Health Connect
Once you have installed Samsung Health and Google Fit and logged in to both apps, it's time for the intermediary - Health Connect.
When you open the app, it will immediately be possible to connect Samsung Health and Google Fit with the app on this screen:
Go to βApp permissionsβ, in the βNot allowed accessβ section, select Samsung Health and grant access to the steps from the app. We recommend checking βAllow allβ at the top of the screen. Do not grant access to data from the Google Fit app, as the data will then be sent from Google Fit, not to it.
Transferring Data from Samsung Health to Google Fit Step by Step
Once you have granted Health Connect access to Samsung Health data, it is now necessary to transfer data from Health Connect to Google Fit.
- Open the Google Fit app. On the main screen, you should see a banner βSync Fit with Health Connectβ - click βGet startedβ
- On the next screen, click βSet upβ in the bottom right corner
- Grant Google Fit access to steps from Health Connect. We recommend to check βAllow allβ at the top of the screen
- Click βAllowβ in the bottom right corner
- Click βDoneβ
Now, steps from Samsung Health should be transferred to Google Fit π
Finally, connecting Google Fit with Activy remains. You can also read about how to connect the apps in our FAQ: connect Google Fit with Activy
Difference in Step Count Between Samsung Health and Activy
If the number of steps visible in Activy does not match the number of steps visible in Samsung Health, check whether the problem occurs in the synchronization between Samsung Health and Google Fit or between Google Fit and Activy.
Activy retrieves data directly from Google Fit, so if the number of steps visible in this app differs from Samsung Health, the difference will also be visible between Activy and Samsung Health.
Please contact the support of the Google Fit or Samsung Health app to try to resolve the issue π
